Senior Manager and Leader Boeing Enterprise Project Management Office
With more than 25 years of experience in Program and Project Management, Steve currently works for The Boeing Company where he led the establishment of Boeing’s Enterprise Project Management Office (EPjMO) in 2012.
Steve currently represents Boeing as a member of PMI’s Global Executive Council and acted as Technical Advisor for PMI on the development of their Practice Guide on Navigating Project Complexity.
Steve served for 5 years as a US team member to ISO on the development of international standards for Project, Program and Portfolio Management and served as a member of the International Aeronautical Federations Project Management Committee on the further development of the project management skill across aerospace companies.
Steve was awarded for teaching excellence in Project Management from the University of Washington’s School of Business where he taught more than 100 classes in Project & Program Management over a 9 year period.
Prior to working for Boeing, Steve spent 13 years traveling to more than 60 countries while working as a supervisor and project manager on sub-sea diving operations. During this time Steve managed diverse project teams on sub-sea construction and inspection projects for multiple off-shore oil companies.
Steve holds 4 University degrees including an Executive (MBA) degree in business from Cornell University. He has a masters certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, is PMP certified, and is qualified in Lean and 6-Sigma.
Managing Project Complexities
Business complexity continues to increase as the world becomes a more global and ever increasingly completive work space. As such, the value of Project Management is more evident than ever. With this however comes the need for Project Management to be more adaptive and to continually align with the capabilities of the business problems that they are trying to address.
During this presentation, attendees will hear about the establishment of Boeing’s Enterprise Project Management Office (EPjMO) and the value that Project Management brings to Boeing’s business. In his presentation Steve will discuss ideas and concepts such as: What makes a project complex?, Establishing the use of scalable PM best practices, as well as the key attributes, maturity and use of Portfolio Management as a key business enabler.
Steve will also talk about the need for agile Project Leadership, PM skills development and the alignment of the capabilities of the Project Managers with the capability needs of the Project.
